Kate Healy, David Jones Beauty Buyer’s morning routine

What time do you usually arrive at work?

Around 8am, coffee in hand, depending on the notorious traffic from Sydney's Northern Beaches!

What time do wake up? Is it the same every day?

It’s 5.30am every week day, weekends around 7am (which feels like a sleep in!).

What do you eat for breakfast?
During the week I have a breakfast smoothie - it's always the same! Kale, spinach, blueberries, coconut water, and WelleCo NOURISHING PLANT PROTEIN Peruvian Chocolate (with optional chia seeds or maca). It's filling and balances cravings, I find that starting the day with a lot of nutrients stops the wheels coming off later, food wise.

Do you exercise?

I have just gotten back into Bikram Yoga this year, and it's amazing. I could feel the difference in my skin, strength, and mood almost immediately. I really crave it by the weekend, and the more I do it, the more likely I am to feel like doing other exercise. Where I live is really perfect for weekends of swimming,  hiking, and the occasional gym visit for weights sessions. The commute is all worthwhile for the lifestyle on the weekends.

How long does it take you to get ready? Do you have an outfit already planned in your head?

I am out the door in 45 minutes. I have an outfit planned the night before, depending on my schedule the following day, and who I am meeting with. It just makes the early start much simpler - and having a mood board on Pinterest for style inspiration really helps.

What about your skincare routine? Do you cleanse, tone and moisturise?

I do everything! One of the great things about my job is being exposed to new products constantly, and working with people who share the obsession. I found out about WelleCo SUPER ELIXIR Greens from one of my suppliers, who was sipping on it in a meeting and she was just radiant - I had to ask what her secret was. I get regular facials and treatments,  and I'm completely obsessed with serums.

What’s your go-to makeup for a work day? How long does it take you?

I am all about skincare - makeup is 5 minutes at the most. I won't leave the house without sunscreen, a bit of brow pencil and some bronzer. If I want more polish I'll add a cc cream, mascara, a nude lip, and some subtle gold around the inner corner of the eyes. My go-to products are Diorshow Iconic Overcurl mascara (it's earned the cult-product status), and Blinc mascara for when you really need to make it midnight without the smudges. We discovered the Erborian skincare range in Seoul on a buying trip and they have a great CC cream - I am nearly out of it,  so very excited that it will be stocked at David Jones shortly!
