The spring season kicks into gear in March with art and design events stretching from New York to Singapore. If high design is your jam, these are events you’ll want to add to your calendar.

The Armory Show

When: March 7–10

The must-attend Armory Show is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and there’s plenty in store. In addition to booths by blue-chip galleries, there will be a special section curated by Lauren Haynes of the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, who will select the most compelling contemporary artists to display solo and duo presentations.

Affordable Art Fair

First-time buyers and anyone else looking for good deals on art would do well to attend the Affordable Art Fair, where everything is priced between £100 and £6,000. The fair will also pop up this month in Brussels (March 15–17) and New York (March 28–31).

Melbourne Design Week

One of Australia’s leading design events, Melbourne Design Week will push exhibitors to imagine how design can shape the future. In addition to workshops, exhibitions, and talks, participants can engage in the Victorian Design Challenge, which asks for innovative design solutions to reducing, reusing, and eliminating waste.

Singapore Design Week

The sixth edition of Singapore Design Week will take over the Southeast Asian city-state, bringing public installations and events like the International Furniture Fair, Singapore Urban Design Festival, and Cities of Design Public Forum.

Design Shanghai

Shanghai bills itself as “one of the world’s most prestigious international design events and Asia’s premier design event.” For the show, five halls will house the following categories: contemporary, classic & luxury, collectibles, kitchen & bathroom, and workplace—featuring booths by the likes of Zaha Hadid Design, Ligne Roset, and Roche Bobois.

One of the most important art events in the Middle East will return this month with a massive fair, a global art forum, a symposium, and a film series. The fair has been instrumental in elevating Dubai’s place on the world stage.

Architectural Design Show
