1. Notice negative thoughts
The more time you spend thinking about negative thoughts, the more they have the power to consume you. Next time you are thinking negatively, note to yourself ‘I am having a negative thought right now’. Don’t judge yourself or the thought, just notice that the thought is negative.
Each morning, commit to saying (out loud) positive and encouraging affirmations. This has the ability to reprogram the conscious mind, by taking responsibility of the negative thoughts.
3. Replace with a positive
When you are having a negative thought, reminisce on a positive thought or try and turn the thought into a positive. This simple practice will refocus your brain’s attention, eliminating the negative thoughts.
4. Internal language
Be considerate of the language you use when talking to yourself. When we are faced with challenges or the unknown, rephrase difficulties as ‘new opportunities’ or ‘life experience’.
"Keep your thoughts positive, because your thoughts become your words.
Keep your words positive, because your words become your behaviour."
Small changes to make your life more positive
Drink more water
Since the brain is made up of mostly water, drinking large quantities of water can flush out harmful toxins and increase concentration and energy levels.
Detach from technology
Unplugging gives your time to act mindfully and ‘uni-task’, by focusing on exactly one thing at a time.
Schedule ‘you’ time every week
By having dedicated time to yourself, you are able to reboot your brain, unwind and engage in deep thinking and problem solving.
